Food by the Elements Restaurant. It was incredible! I do not think it is possible to sample everything. Seafood bar, salad bar, pasta bar, Thai wraps and a variety of potatoes. Roast beef, tenderloin, turkey, ham. A well-stocked dessert bar with pumpkin mousse spice cake, chocolate and caramel fountains with fresh berries, "Blueberry, lemon and white chocolate bread pudding with Creme Anglaise", creme brule -- just to name a few by Executive Pastry Chef Heather Troyer.
Fish ice sculpture by Executive Chef Dustin McKay. Chef de Cuisine is Oscar Silva.
Music by "Phase Two", an augmentation of Lightwood Duo. PHASE TWO is a tight four-piece group consisting of Mike Christiansen, guitar and vocals, Eric Nelson, keyboards and saxophone, Jeremy Nivison, bass, and (usually) Travis Taylor, drums. Curtis Smith substituted on drums for this evening.
At 10 p.m., an hour-long magic show by Dexter Taylor. Some of the highlights included traditional metal rings that can be fastened without seemingly to open them and with no break, ball tricks and candle tricks. Then he performed more sophisticated tricks with a 100 dollar bill, making it appear inside an orange that he had earlier tossed to a guest -- oh yes, and which he had put in an envelope and lit on fire. We enjoyed a finger-chopping trick with audience participants Barbara and Henry, regulars of The Elements Restaurant, was quite amazing. The finale was locking up his assistant in a wooden crate, chained and locked, then standing on it and in five seconds or so he ducked down, she appeared above it and he was inside in a black cloth bag.
Phase Two then played dance music until midnight, the ball dropped and they played until about 0040.
